Fellow Crew Members,

Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised by the Nantahala site. It appears there is a few of us that were on 66 - 68 time frame. When I saw the pictures of the Equator crossing I couldn't believe it. All I could think of was that I was there. If I'm not mistaken we went to pick up the Forrestal after she had bombs and missiles blow up on her flight deck off of Vietnam. We gave her just enough to get to Norfolk. I was reminded of all that because of the PBS special on the Forrestal disaster.

I'm hoping some from the operations side of the house will find us. Until then, I'm glad you are here. I've got the same picture of the Nan, except larger, framed and hanging on the wall. It was taken as we were coming up on Valletta, Malta for Christmas and New Years. A relative of mine just got back from Malta. They spent time in Valletta. Before they left I told him about the "Gut". The long downhill "alley" where we spent a lot of drink filled nights. I remember that their door knobs were incredible. Everything else was kind of dumpy but not the door knobs. I think of those days often. I hope the site grows by leaps and bounds. Pete O'Kane
