| I don't remember exactly when this happened but I think it was in the Spring or early Summer of 1966. Chief Madill decided he needed a gas can at home so he took an empty liquid soap can, one or two gallon size, and painted it red. He then stenciled "GAS" in yellow on it and hung it in the fire room to dry. A couple of guys made a duplicate of it with another soap can and after painting and allowing it to dry they beat the heck out of it and hung it in place of the Chief's can. When Chief Madill went to retrieve his gas can you could hear his shout throughout the fire room, above the noise of the boilers and all. "You guys! What the hell did you do to my can!!?"
I still chuckle when I think about it. If you read this, Chief, I may even tell you one or two of the guys involved.
