Liberty Call

After anchoring in Valetta, Malta everyone was ready to go ashore. The engine room was shutdown, the electricity switched to one generator and the watch set.

Our Division Officer then told me that no one was to go on liberty until the lower level deck plates were painted! I went up to M division quarters and all the guys were in dress blues and ready to go. When I told them what was up it didn't take them long to change.

They all went down into the engine room and got four mops and two buckets of Terra Cotta paint and in about fifteen minutes they were in their dress blues and went on liberty.

True engineers. Nice job guys.

Norm knows this is no bull.
