My dad served on the A0-60, including it's maiden voyage in 1944 and we recently found some diary pages we didn't know he kept. He worked in the engine room and his name was Ray Swaim from Thomasville, N.C. He loved that ship and always talked about goin
back to visit it, but never did. Thanks for a wonderful page on the Nantahala!!

Very nice site. You've got a great deal of information. My father, Ray Fulleman, WT2c was aboard the USS Mississinewa, AO-59 when it was hit by a manned suicide torpedo on November 20th, 1944. I've learned a lot, from my father and as we gather info abo
t the AO-59, about the danger Oilers face all the time in both peace time and war.
My thanks to all of you who served and are serving to keep our freedom.

My dad, Robert J. Larkin, of Massachusetts is a plank owner of the USS Nantahala. Dad served in WW2. I wish I could have seen the Nantahala before she was scrapped.

Tankers and ammo ships, That's the Navy I liked. I hate to see them go from the fleet.
Smooth Sailing.
